Ring Guru
Do's and Dont's
DO take a bit of extra time and be patient to pick out the
right ring.
DO remember that picking the right ring is just as important as
choosing a beautiful diamond.
DO make sure that she is happy with your selection.
DO let her select it, if possible.
DO consider her personal style before choosing a setting.
DO consider the shape and size of her hand before you buy a ring.
DO find out whether she is allergic to any metal.
DO remember to give the ring packed in a beautiful box, not a brown
paper bag.
DO select a ring that is easy to wear and can withstand everyday
wear and tear.
DO ask the jeweler to allow you to use a microscope or 10x loupe to
view the diamond.
DO make sure that the diamond has a GIA or AGS Certification.
DO make sure that if you want a "real" and “untreated” diamond,
guard yourself against terms such as "clarity enhanced”.
DO remember to check that the diamond jeweler uses insured carriers
(e.g., FedEx and UPS) to ship its packages and all shipments are insured
for the full value of their contents.
DON’T give her a family ring without consulting her first.
DON’T check her ring size with her mother's ring.
DON’T buy a diamond if you see a big crack inside it or on the
table (top of diamond).
DON’T buy a diamond if there are too many air bubbles or carbon
deposits inside it. It will have poor reflecting properties.
DON’T select a ring if it has less than 6 prongs.
